Boorowa Rugby Club President, Justin Fleming, said the idea for the women's side came following rising support.
"There's been a little bit of interest around, a few people started talking about it," he said.
"So when we started to get a whisper there might be some young women keen, we thought, 'let's put it out for an expression of interest and just see how much actual interest there is'.
"And I would say the interest is strong, I'm not sure what that means in terms of actual numbers.
"We'll need to see and it can be hard to know until you get them there, but the interest is strong."
Fleming said a women's side would bring a new dynamic to the club.
"Women's rugby is going really well, so it would be great for our club to be involved in that," he said.
"I think the club already has a good following, we're good at embracing the social side, and having more people involved on field and off field just makes the club healthier.
"It increases the numbers, whether it's women's or men's, it increases the players in our club, which means we have more people that come to spectate and tag along.
"It means whether we are away or at home, the club is stronger and the enjoyment level goes up."
He said even if the venture doesn't come off in the 2022 season, the club would continue to keep it on the books.
"Previous years, we just haven't had the interest there," he said.
"But now that we do, we are very, very keen to pursue it and do what we can to make sure we've got the best opportunity to see it through.
"It's created some excitement, obviously we've had plenty of numbers with the men's the last couple of years.
"We expect that won't change in 2022, but to add a women's team to our ranks is really exciting.
"We're just thrilled the interest is there and they are keen to pull on a golden jersey."
Fleming said the club was still interested in hearing from women interested in playing.
He said they could express that interest by messaging the club's Facebook page or by calling him on 0429 820 389.
