Not all heroes wear capes but hundreds of runners will as they try to break a Guinness World Record at the annual City2Surf charity run. More than 250 people are expected to dress up as Wonder Woman to run the iconic 14km route from Sydney to Bondi on Sunday morning. Sydneysiders Caroline Stevenson and Sarah Foley came up with the plan to break the record for the largest gathering of people dressed as the famous superhero. "We have chosen Wonder Woman as symbolic of women but we'd also love to include men," Ms Foley said. "It's a celebration and coming together of a group of strong wonder women." Ms Foley is living with a brain tumour and she is due to start her cancer treatment on Monday, but she's still taking part in order to raise funds for the Cure Brain Cancer charity. "We hope to fundraise and create some media attention to the cause and at the same time set a world record," Ms Foley said. More than 80,000 people are expected to take part in this year's City2Surf charity run, with the youngest competitor not even six months old while the two oldest are aged 91. About $2.5 million of the $3 million target has already been raised for charity ahead of Sunday's run. Sydneysiders are being warned that roads will be closed throughout the city centre from about 3.30am and in the eastern suburbs from 6am. City roads will start to reopen from 11.30am, while roads at Bondi Beach will remain closed until 4pm. "We want everyone - spectators, participants and the general public - to enjoy the event safely," Detective Superintendent Jodi Radmore said. "We're not there to spoil anyone's fun but we won't tolerate behaviour that puts yourself or other members of the community at risk." Australian Associated Press
