MC for the evening, Councillor Wendy Tuckerman, said a fantastic night in the park was had by all.
“It was a beautiful night,” she said.
“After the sun was covered by the trees it was a lovely evening.”
Cr Tuckerman said the crowd enjoyed plenty of live music all night.
“There was a big crowd, the little singers from the Boorowa Early Education Centre and St Joseph’s were fantastic,” she said.
“It was just a lovely family evening.”
Along with carols and Christmas songs sung by local children, the night also featured performances from some bigger kids as well.
“The Boorowa Musical and Dramatic Society singers sang some community carols and special carols,” Cr Tuckerman said.
“Peter Roberts also sang couple of songs like Holy night and Holy City.”
The kids in the audience also had another surprise in store for them on the night, in the form of a jolly man in a red suit.
“The kids were very excited because Santa came to visit,” Cr Tuckerman said.
“He answered a couple of questions and I think he answered them very well, like a professional.
“He was asked what are his reindeers’ names and he rattled them off.
“It’s always wonderful to see Santa in town."
Cr Tuckerman said it’s a wonderful opportunity for the community to get together before the Christmas break.
“Always been a wonderful community event where people take the opportunity to gather before Christmas,” she said.
“Especially for the kids, they get so excited, and it gives me and the other adults and parents such a sense of pleasure to see that.”
Cr Tuckerman praised the efforts of Hilltop Council’s Deidre Johnson, who organises the event each year.
