Karen Webb seems to be being put under this pressure. In the case of the two men allegedly murdered by a police officer, Police Commissioner Webb was criticized for not stepping up to talk but handing it over to her officer in charge of the investigation to whom she had delegated that responsibility. In my mind the correct move.

Now she is being criticized in the appointment of a media chief, an appointment suggested by Police Minister Yasmin Catley. One would have to think a media beat-up. In a letter to the Editor Alan Sexton (Nth Parramatta) has called it that way, suggesting, 'Let her perform on her instincts which won her the job. Being herself with a lifetime of valuable experience should quickly bring her back into public favour.'

If this pressure aims at getting Karen to stand down is fact or fiction, I would see stepping down could be taken as a sign 'women are not up to the job.' Ridiculous, my opinion, and that of many I talk to, is she is doing a very fine job. Keep the head down Karen, chin up, and keep running the force as you see it.

Talking about delegation, I remember in my teaching days taking on a year of being in charge of the primary school, a young teacher offering to take over my usual role as teacher in charge of sport. Came to our first sport day for the year, the young teacher came up to me and asked, "What time do we go swimming?" My reply, as I think delegation should go, "You're now in charge. You tell me!"

Who you ask? A clue: SHE did a great job.

Cricket NSW in announcing their 2024 Community Cricket Awards has seen local girl Annelise Halls recognized for her work with junior cricket. Annelise heads up the Boorowa Woolworths Blast Program which caters for kids aged 5 to 10 involving 42 kids equating to about one third of all children in town. Terrific job Annelise introducing so many kids to cricket skills predominately using plastic bats and rubber balls. Congratulations.

Look at the work done by our Country Education Foundation recently providing $45,000 in grants to enable 20 local students to continue their education.

Again for the benefit of our kids, Rotary Boorowa has helped introduce Nearpod, a platform transforming traditional lessons into interactive, engaging experiences. Central School principal Graham Jones expressed his gratitude to the sponsorship saying, "the support from Boorowa Rotary is truly transformative. This sponsorship will help prepare students for success in the digital age."

All would have been shocked to hear of the Princess of Wales, Catherine, having a cancer diagnosis.

With King Charles and Kate receiving cancer treatment, it is a worrying time for the Royal Family, and you could easily say, much of the world. Kate came out and gave a video account, but I loved her final words, "For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope.

You are not alone."
