NSW records 179 new COVID cases and three deaths

NSW has recorded 179 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths in the 24 hours to 8pm.

The state's population aged 16 years and over is now 92.4 per cent fully vaccinated, while 94.5 per cent have had their first COVID-19 vaccine shot.

Those aged between 12 and 15 years are 76.5 per cent fully vaccinated, while 81.2 per cent have had their first dose.

There are 160 COVID-19 patients in hospital, with 26 in ICU.

Yesterday, 62,166 tests were conducted which was up on the previous day's total of 47,175.

NSW Health will release further details of today's cases at 11am.

Yesterday, South Western Sydney Local Health District recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases across the state with 32 cases recorded.

Northern Sydney LHD recorded 25 new cases, while South Eastern Sydney LHD also had 25 cases.
