Boorowa water mains to be cleaned by air scouring: council

Residents of Boorowa on the water reticulation system within Hilltops Council, are advised council will commence cleaning of water mains by air scouring to avoid discolouration in the supply during the summer months.

The air scouring process may cause some temporary water discoloration, loss of pressure or supply interruption.

This may also affect adjacent areas.

The activity will be clearly signed by temporary road signs in the streets during the cleaning process.

The works will start at approximately 6am each day and should be finished no later than 5pm.

Consumers are advised to avoid using their washing machines and dishwashing machines during these hours when the works are in your area.

The water mains cleaning schedule is listed below:

Zone 1 (Purple) -Tuesday, November 30 - Wednesday, December 1

Long Street, Ford Street, Dry Street, Farm Street, Court Street, Queen Street, Pudman Street, Jugiong Street, New Street, South Street, Dillion Street, Oxley Drive, Kookaburra Street, Waratah Street and Tip Road.

Zone 2 (Green) - Wednesday, December 1 - Thursday, December 2

North Street, Little Street, Short Street, Campbell Street, Brial Street, Pudman Street, Long Street, Corcoran Court, Ford Street, Dry Street. Farm Street, Court Street, Stevenson Street and Park Street.

Zone 3 (Red) - Friday, December 3

Scott Street, Marsden Street, Market Street, Pudman Street, Queen Street, Jugiong Street, Ballyryan Road, South Street, Dillion Street and Parnell Street.

Consumers should check their water supply and flush their own pipes by running a backyard tap, until the water colour returns to normal.

There may be some trapped air in house water pipes.

The air may cause some splutters and spits as it comes out of the taps.

If this happens, run your tap until all the trapped air leaves the pipe.

Clearing the pipes of trapped air and discoloured water should only take a couple of minutes.

To prevent air entering the household water system, it is recommended that taps are not opened during the scouring period.

All residents and businesses will have received a notification in their mailbox.

For all enquiries please contact Hilltops Council on 1300 445 586.

Council apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause.
