Some of the portable equipment had not been used for 12 months.
The crew of Garry Sheppard, crew leader John Dymock and John Piper took the tanker to the river at Accraman's Bridge.
John Piper took time off from campaigning to join the crew.
Firstly they checked the Halo spray on the roof of the truck, then the wheel arch sprays and the front side jets.
The two stationary pumps has not been used for a year.
The fast fill pump needed a little coaxing but finally it delivered.
The stationary fire pump also started after some tender loving care.
Captain Dan Luxford dropped in to offer some encouragement to his "senior" crew.
All fire equipment in sheds, in backyards, on stands and on trucks should be now given a trial run.
Bushfire preparation is an essential activity this time of the year, particularly with the growth seen in paddocks and on roadsides.
Last summer was a quiet fire season and we all hope this one is the same.
Bushfire preparation around houses and sheds is also essential.
Removal of excess growth in house areas should be done now.
Rural people know the risks, so a little preparation beforehand is not wasted effort.
