The Goldies secured hosting rights after the club, in conjunction with Cootamundra, decided to cancel their final regular season match and share the points between themselves.
The decision to cancel came following a COVID-19 positive case visiting the Cootamundra area.
Goldies coach Andrew Corcoran said that, while it wasn't ideal, players, officials and the community's welfare was of paramount importance.
"We didn't want to be the orginisation that had anything to do with it coming back to the town," he said.
"So we might have been too cautious in hindsight, but we'd rather do that than put people at risk in our little town.
"So we made the call and I've got no regrets."
Corcoran said while other sides might be upset at the decision to share the points from the weekend, considering their games went ahead, he said it was the fairest decision.
"We shared the points and locked in third position with that decision, to Young's disgust," he said.
"Though we thought if we had played we were going there to beat Cootamundra, so we were always hopeful to get something out of it to host.
"While it would have been nice to have that consistency going in, at the end of the day we've got a lot of players with niggling injuries and the week off will help them freshen up.
"We can go in, in a lot better form than rather having a weekend getting bashed by a big Cootamundra team.
"And considering the weather, it was pretty rough weekend, I don't think there were many too concerned about not playing."
He said the side was looking forward to hosting on the weekend, with the chance to reverse the result from last year's opening finals week.
"We are pumped, the same thing happened last year, we hosted Young in the first final last year and that didn't go our way," he said.
"We feel we've grown as a team and come a long way, we're more dominant in certain areas like our defence, scrum and lineout.
"So we are pretty keen to continue going forward."
Corcoran said the side was continuing to work on their own performances heading into the finals.
"Just controlling the game and keeping calm, that's basically our aim," he said.
"We can only control what we can control.
"Our discipline let us down a couple of times this year.
"So we need to make sure we stay on the right side of the ref, and like I said, just control what we can control."
He said with 2021 season being a huge success the only thing for the side to do now was to focus on their jobs.
"Everyone has their job to do, whether it's the guys off the bench bringing some impact or the blokes starting, to settle down that first 10 minutes and take control of the game," he said.
"So it will be good to see how we go and what happens in the Cootamundra and Harden game.
"It's been a pretty amazing season considering no team in the top four has lost against a team in the bottom four the entire season.
"So I think the best four teams are in there."
