It is performed on the floor and emphasises choreographed dance-like routines which involve hand held equipment such as Rope, Ball, Hoop, Ribbons and Clubs.
Last Saturday, gymnasts from Boorowa Gymnastics Club were able to try some moves applicable to Hoop.
Rhythmic Hoop goes beyond the old "hula hoop".
A routine is built around the fundamental requirements of rolling and rotating around the hands and body.
There is an abundant variety of movements gymnasts may perform including throws, skips, swings, circles, spins, figures of eight and catches (with the hand, feet, leg, arm or neck).
All this is accompanied by poses and locomotion including dance steps, hops, jumps and turns.
The gymnasts found the activities fun but challenging.
Boorowa Gymnastics Club hold practice every Saturday.
