Data from the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) shows that the number of cases jumped from 130 in the July 2018 to June 2019 period to 153 in the July 2019 to June 2020 period.
People charged with domestic violence related assault rose from 92 to 95 over the same 12 months.
Non-domestic violence related assault remained unchanged at 88.
The number of people assaulting police dropped by one from six cases to five incidents.
The crime of trespass jumped significantly in the 12-month reporting period, up from 58 to 72.
This continued the upward trend over a five year period from 57 in 2015-16.
The number of people charged with break and enter offences increased from 77 to 84.
Offences for possession and/or use of cannabis were up by more than 50 percent, from 50 to 79.
Possession and/or use of amphetamines was also up jumping from 13 to 14.
In the 2019-20 survey period no one was charged with possession and/or use of cocaine and no one was charged with possession and/or use of ecstasy.
No one was charged with dealing or trafficking in narcotics or cocaine. Two were charged with dealing or trafficking of cannabis, down from seven in the previous period, and one for dealing or trafficking of amphetamines, down from 24..
Weapons offences jumped from 67 to 82 and there were 1768 cases of malicious damage to property, down from 213 in the previous period.
Fraud charges dropped from 74 to 49 and breaches of apprehended violence orders rose from 73 to 85.
