Residents are now able to nominate sportspeople and teams across a variety of categories ahead of next year's awards ceremony on Australia Day, pending potential social distancing restrictions in 2021.
Boorowa Australia Day Committee President, John Snelling, says he hopes people would show their support and get behind the awards.
"It's about getting involved and getting behind it even though there were limited sports that took to the field," he said.
"While they had a shortened season, sports such as rugby union and junior league went ahead and there are plenty of worthy nominees in those codes, but maybe you have someone else in mind and if so, let us know."
The categories are:
- Senior sportsperson of the year
- Junior sportsperson of the year (18 years and under)
- Junior sportsperson of the year (12 years and under)
- Sporting team of the year
- Club person of the year
Nomination forms are now available and residents are asked to provide:
- Name, contact person and telephone number of nominating club/organisation
- Name, address and contact number of nominee
- Age of nominee as of December 31, 2020 (in junior categories only)
- Award catergory
- Involvement with club/sportsperson
Nomination forms also include a written section with further details on the nominee.
Forms are available by contacting Mr Snelling on 0428 853 348 or 6385 3348.
Submissions must be returned by Tuesday, December 1.
Mr Snelling also called for sporting organisations to make sure their contact details are up to date and provided to the Australia Day Committee.
"It would be very good to see all sports organisations provide a contact in the community phonebook or alternatively, contact myself with their details," he said.
