President Donald Trump emerged from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center hours after his doctor said the president remains contagious and would not be fully "out of the woods" for another week and headed back to the White House.
Aside from a few thumbs up gestures and the odd "I feel good" comment, Mr Trump left it to his usual medium to do the talking.
He added this 37-second video to an otherwise wordless tweet after declaring he would be "back on the campaign trail soon".
He ignited a new controversy by declaring that despite his illness the nation should not fear the virus - and then he entered the White House without a protective mask.
"We have to be realistic in this: COVID is a complete threat to the American population," Dr. David Nace of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, said of Trump's comment.
The US has had 7.4 million cases of COVID-19 and 210,000 deaths.
Victoria has recorded 15 new coronavirus cases and one new death in the past 24 hours. The 14-day average for new cases statewide is currently 10.9, down from 11.9 on Monday.
New South Wales has recorded its 11th straight day of zero locally-acquired coronavirus cases. There were 11 new COVID-19 cases confirmed statewide on Tuesday, all of them returned travellers in hotel quarantine.
There have been no new coronavirus cases recorded in Queensland overnight, and there are currently seven active COVID-19 cases statewide.
