It was a critical victory for the Gators who found themselves at the bottom of the ladder after four rounds.
Meanwhile, the Crocs suffered their second defeat of the season, going down to the Yass Cobras by seven wickets, though the game was much closer than the score would suggest.
After batting first and making a very respectable 6/247, the Cobras chased down the Boorowa target with an over to spare.
The top order for the Boorowa Crocs was very impressive, with young gun Matt Canellis making a very stylish 84 and was unlucky not to get a century.
Brendon Shean made a welcome return, making 41, and combined with Canellis for a second wicket stand of 124 to set up the healthy total. Skipper Josh Carmody played some nice strokes as he compiled 62.
In reply, Boorowa snagged an early Yass wicket to have the visitors at 1/4 but that was about all she wrote as the Field brothers - David and Robbie - had a field day, making 71 not out and 75 respectively.
Along with B. Hutchinson, who made 75, they paced their innings perfectly to run down the imposing Boorowa score.
Wicket takers for Boorowa were Josh Carmody with 2/63 and Chris Dwyer with 1/23.
Despite the loss, there were plenty of positives to take out of the game, with the top order firing for Boorowa against one of the favorites for this year's title.
In the mean time, the Boorowa Gators won the toss and elected to bat on the expansive O'Connor Park oval in Yass.
With a few experienced batsmen returning to the lineup, they composed a competitive score of 155 in 39 overs.
The backbone of the innings was Mick Canellis who made a welcome return with 69.
He was well supported by Brett Grocott, who was back in Boorowa colours, compiling a handy 33 and figured in a 71 run fifth wicket stand after Boorowa were in trouble, on 4/49 at the 15 over mark.
Ben Klose made a quick fire 16 at the top of the innings.
Defending 155 was more like 190 on the vast oval and apart from a stubborn last wicket stand of 61, the Taipans were never able to put pressure on the Boorowa bowlers.
After being in all sorts of trouble, the Taipans tail enders battled hard for over an hour to delay the first win celebrations before Ben Klose took a good catch to dismiss the final batsman.
Wicket takers for Boorowa were Chris Mcintosh 1/17, Ben Klose 1/31, Brett Grocott 2/9, Simon Pye 2/16, Harvey Gay 2/6 and Mick Canellis 1/15.
It was a great team performance by the Gators, sparking their season into life.
