Residents living on Battery Road will have a safer trip each time they are on the road thanks to a $1 million road safety upgrade announced yesterday by Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier, Steph Cooke and the Member for Goulburn, Wendy Tuckerman.

The $1 million will be used to upgrade a 4.2km section of the Battery Road from the intersection of the Reids Flat Road to the gate of Glenella Quarry.
Ms Cooke said the funding came from the NSW Government's Drought Stimulus Package and would see the road widened to eight metres and double packed sealed.
"It's important we invest where we can in roads just like this, to ensure that people's safety is first and foremost," she said.
"Everyone has taken safety on this road very seriously for a very long time and you can always slow down and pull over and allow people to pass.
"But at the end of the day if you want to grow this business, keep jobs in this area and keep transport interested in doing business here you need to upgrade the infrastructure," she said.
Member for Goulburn, Wendy Tuckerman, agreed saying the upgrade was a win for the community.
"We've been fighting to get this road upgraded as small local government communities for many years,"she said.
"To fund this sort of upgrade was very very difficult for a small council, so it's wonderful that Hilltops as the newly merged council from my part of the world has had an opportunity to secure this funding.
"It's been a long road and local farmers will attest to that, they've been on my doorstep many a time trying to achieve this outcome, so it's a wonderful win for our community," she said.
Owner of Glenella Quarry, Michael Howe, said the upgrade benefited all in the community.
"It's a massive improvement, from a safety standpoint we have increased visibility, width and amenity to residents," he said.
"It's (the upgrade) for everybody, it gives them a clear line of sight whether you're sitting up in a truck or down in a small vehicle and it gives you the width and pavement you can be secure on," he said.
Hilltops Council Mayor Brian Ingram said the community would welcome the funding with open arms.
