Mr Hewson was placed on the list in recognition of his service to the community of Murringo.
Mr Hewson's achievements included:
- Life member, Works Manager, past Vice-President, past Secretary and Member of the Murringo Community Association since 1983.
- Volunteer of the Murringo Public School Kitchen Garden Program, Member of Parents and Citizens Association since 1976, Life Member of the Parents and Citizens Association, Past Executive Member of the Parents and Citizens Association and the school's past Marching Coach.
- The Murringo Fire Brigade's current Training Officer and a member of the brigade since 1980.
Mr Hewson was one of 1207 recipients named on the Queen's Birthday list.
