Again Boorowa has trouble keeping two teams on the paddock.
First grade have a mixed season but make the semis on a count back.
Boorowa play Grenfell at Boorowa and have a good win, which takes them onto play Cowra at Wyangala.
The Goldies bowed out of the season after a defeat at the hands of Cowra, 13-9.
This year also saw the influx of the group affectionately known as "the kids".
1984
The Colts side become South West Premiers.
1985
1985 marked BRU's first premiership success, with both first and second grade winning their respective grand finals.
1986
As often happens, the come down after the Grand final win left Boorowa a little lacking.
The Club still fielded two strong sides under Charlie Merriman and Rob Fuller, the coaches for first and second grade.
The season started slowly for first grade, with three straight losses before they defeated Parkes and then went on to have good wins against Grenfell, Cowra and Harden.
The 2nd XV was made up by a list of players who could have easily substituted for the first.
Peter Cusack took out the Best and Fairest.
1987
1987 saw a changing of the guard with Jack Ryan being elected President, George Merriman named first grade coach and Peter Sheridan reserve grade coach.
It also saw the conception of the U17s that were coached by Jack Ryan.
The first grade played with tremendous effort with many close encounters.
Cootamundra came back into South West, and a victory against Wyalong of 54 - nil showed good form.
The South West Representative players of Tom Corcoran, Marty Corkhill, Sam McGuiness and Peter Cusack showed our depth.
The highlight of the year was the U17s. A group of the most talented kids ever.
A class of their own with many a household name today - Crowe, Donohoe, Death, Evans and the wonderful Bock Brothers.
The boys went on to defeat Grenfell 13-4 in the grand final.
Best and Fairest for the year were: First Grade - Mark Crowe, Second Grade - Phil Elkins and Third Grade - Matt Donohoe.
1988
Numbers were still strong at the start of the season for first grade with George Merriman being Captain/Coach of the Cusack invitational 15 (Jim, Pat, Andrew, Peter and Dave).
Numbers were leaner for the 2nd XV and it was opted to launch a 7s competition to keep the players fit.
The U17s again preformed well with a lot of the players returning from the premiership winning team, and a good splash of new blood. Danny Bock made the squad for the Country trials.
The team was beaten by Young in the grand final at Parkes.
Best and Fairest for the year was Rob Corcoran.
1989
George Merriman took over the Presidency and Chris Corcoran became the coach of the 1st XV.
Peter Cusack and Matt Crowe were members of the Zone side that was a curtain raiser to the Lions v ACT match.
It was the year of the 21st reunion with part of the official ceremony being the opening of the change rooms. Best and Fairest for the year was Martin Gay.
