The Boorowa Recreation Club is one step closer to a new, renewable source of power with the installation of solar panels thanks to state government funding to the tune of $30,000.
The rooftop solar system was installed earlier this year due to a grant from the Community Building Partnership Program.
Member for Goulburn, Pru Goward visited the club on Monday afternoon to inspect the progress of the installation.
“This funding is a great investment in our region that will keep on giving well into the future,” Ms Goward said.
“It is estimated the total combined energy saved under the new solar panels will reduce the club’s bills by around $25,000 annually.”
Manager of the Boorowa Recreation Club, Sharon Webster, was pleased to hear that the application for funding was successful.
While the panels have been installed the club is still awaiting the meter connection to be operational.
This upgrade is aiming to reduce the club’s power bills and helping the environment by reducing energy consumption.
