At the dinner, members from Boorowa and other clubs, celebrated Christmas and a significant milestone for the Boorowa Club.
Julie Poplin was recognised for her twenty five years as a member of Rotary!
Julie became a member of Boorowa Rotary three years after Rotary Clubs decided to allow women to join clubs.
Julie spoke eloquently of the members she had known over her years with the club, some of whom were present at the evening.
She particularly mentioned Bruce Gruber who had mentored her as president.
A special guest at the dinner was Gloria Schultz, who has a long association with Julie and the Club.
Club president, Steve Meares, congratulated Julie on her twenty five year membership and hoped she would still be a member in twenty five years.
Julie has held positions within the club, including president and treasurer.
Currently she holds the position of Assistant District Governor with responsibility for a number of clubs in the area.
Unfortunately, Julie’s family could not share her celebrations due to prior medical commitments.
Boorowa Rotary Club has been a quiet “doer” for a long time and if the membership present is any indication, Boorowa Rotary Club will continue to achieve the goals of Rotary well into the future!
