The heaviest falls were over the southern inland and alps, said Weatherzone’s Ben Domensino.
“Many areas of southern NSW to the west of the ranges have already received one to two times their December average rainfall,” he said.
The top fall of the weekend (from 9am Friday to 9am Monday) was at Long Plain were 151 millimetres fell.
Argalong got 141mm, Tooma Dam saw 139.4mm and Cabramurra got 137mm.
Pooncarie picked up 49.8mm during the 24 hours to 9am on Saturday, which is more than double its December monthly average (21.1mm).
Grenfell got 125mm during the 48 hours to 9am on Sunday, which is the wettest pair of days in seven years and the wettest pair of December days since 1922.
This was also more than double the December monthly average of 54.2mm, Mr Domensino said.
Griffith registered 61.4mm during the 24 hours to 9am on Saturday, which was its wettest December day on record.
It got windy across the state as well, with 102 kilometre an hour winds recorded at Tibooburra on Friday afternoon, while Murrurundi Gap recorded speeds of 91km/h on Saturday evening.
Western NSW got good drops with 50mm at Lightning Ridge, 39.2mm at Bourke and 29.6mm at Cobar.

Down south Young got a huge 84.4mm, Balranald got 55mm, Wagga Wagga caught 63.4mm, Deniliquin got 49mm, Hillston 46mm, and Swan Hill 42.2mm.
Towards the central west of the state and Nyngan got 29mm, Dubbo 30mm, amd Bathurst 29mm while further north Moree got 33mm, Tamworth 18.6mm.
On the South Coast Bega got 43.2mm and Nowra just 5.8mm.
Staying south and Cooma got 50mm, Goulburn 52mm while Yass copped a huge 82mm.
