Boorowa will be a very special stop on the tour, as all profits raised on the day will go towards a future International Men’s Day.
Gretel said she was looking forward to coming back to Boorowa after spending time in the town on two previous occasions – as Australia Day Ambassador and as a special guest speaker at the local International Women’s Day event.
“It’s beautiful, I’ve had nothing but kindness,” she said about Boorowa.
“It’s visually gorgeous but it also has a lovely community spirit and I am looking forward to coming back.”
The show is a Sunday brunch of hilarious commentary, insightful profundity and casual ridiculousness with some of Australia’s big hearts and minds.
Gretel said she hopes as many local women come along to the show as possible to learn not only more about herself, but a bit more about themselves.
“It’s me in conversation… all the different sides of me, the comedic side, the analytical side,” she said.
“It’s really important to explore people’s uniqueness and individuality.”
She said the show was an opportunity to learn about the different sides of not only Gretel, who the public may perceive as the former host of Big Brother or as a guest on the Project, but also two special, local guests. It is also a chance for women of all ages to simply sit and chat.
“Women communicate differently when we are together,” she said.
“It’s a celebration of us. We can enjoy each other and grow as human beings.”
Women who come along will also be raising funds and awareness for a vital cause, with all profits from the show going towards International Men's Day, which is in the pipeline for next year.
“We do these shows for charities and non-for-profits. We are donating any money and putting it towards International Men’s Day.”
Gretel said International Men’s Day was a crucial and innovative concept, especially for men in rural areas.
“A few men had mentioned it. It comes from a place of big hearts and big minds. We want to give as much as we can.”
“This Is Who I Am” will take place at the Boorowa Ex-Services Club at 11am on July 30. Tickets are $20 and attendees are asked to bring a plate. Bookings can be made online at www.gretelkilleen.com.au or the Club.
