BEE Acting Director Lynelle Warren said a great day was had by all.
“The weather was good, the activities were good and the kids that were here had fun,” she said.
“We had a jumping castle, we had face-painting, balloons, all the stuff parties should have and the big, bee birthday cake.”
Ms Warren said that numbers have grown in the past year, with renovations now finished in the Centre’s new rooms.
“We have three rooms operating now and then we use our fourth room for our Out of School Hours Care (OOSH),” she said.
“Our numbers have grown, we are averaging about 35 to 40 kids a day now, that’s why we have our three rooms operating.
“And we started our OOSH program, and we started it when school went back, so we average five to eight children a day in that program.”
Ms Warren said children have taken a liking to the new building and the community can expect even more transformations to the Centre.
“Our goal is to try and make use of the beautiful new building and we’ve also got a grant coming in. We’ve just secured ourselves another grant to do the yard up now so we are moving on to do the landscaping and setting up the new playgrounds.”
Ms Warren said there are exciting times ahead for the Centre, with a vacation program and a staff recruitment drive.
“We are spending time focusing on NAIDOC… we have been celebrating with the children, celebrating the culture of our Indigenous Australians,” she said.
“Our staffing has increased in numbers because we have increased the size of the centre and we’ve been recruiting. We’ve been advertising for an OOSH position.”
She said at the end of the day the children’s happiness was the main goal of the Centre.
“Our job is to make sure the children grow to their full potential and that they are happy,” she said.
“If the children are happy, the parents are happy.”
