But despite his robust size, Percy isn’t to be feared.
In fact he’s making his way to Orange to spread an important message about the work of the Country Education Foundation of Australia.
Percy and Country Education Foundation of Boorowa Chairman Justin Fleming wants to make sure every student, no matter what their background, can achieve their goals.
“The costs associated with pursuing further education and training after school are considerable. Many young people from the bush are missing out because their families can’t afford to send them away.” Justin said.
The Country Education Foundation is committed to ensuring students in regional areas can achieve whatever they want after school – university, a trade, TAFE or any other form of higher education.
For 24 years the Country Education Foundation has given grants to almost four thousand students in regional areas.
And so, after passing his vet checks on Sunday, Percy has set about his journey along with teams of community members pushing him, quite literally, along.
He’ll be passing through towns, with pit stops along the way for the whole week until his work is done.
Percy would love as many people to jump on board in any way they can.
He’s taking donations along the way, with any amount, big or small, so very appreciated.
So if you see Percy and his helpers around please stop and say hello and spare a little if you can.
Percy promises it’s going to some very deserving students who will appreciate every opportunity they are gifted.
