Does it matter were the massacre is, it is not the news we want to hear.
Are we merely going to say, "Oh well, another week, another massacre"?
I have noticed an increasing number of journalists taking the view I expressed last week, and that view is to take a positive step to eradicate this scourge that is present in our world of today.
I feel for the people of France and Mali, but giant steps have to be taken before they, and the rest of the world can go about their daily lives in peace.

Passionate WW1 history expert and friend Maurice Campbell happened to be passing through Boorowa last Sunday, so we arranged to have a coffee and a chat.
Who is Maurice Campbell you might ask?
He was the driving force behind a Legacy fundraiser that allowed Council to purchase the Lone Pine growing in our memorial park adjacent to the War Memorial.
He always looks to see how the tree is going as he passes through and was ecstatic to see how this area has been developed to not only enhance the tree but acknowledge the memories of those who have fallen, many of whose stories he is familiar with.
Maurice was also highly impressed with how the certification and Lone Pine story had been reproduced in brass and there for all to read.
This is a moving story, as this tree was indeed grown from stock grown from seed from the actual Lone Pine at Gallipoli.
If you've never read the story, visit the tree and read it.
Nearly always brings a tear to the eye.

I have been asked if I had heard any more about the new doctors.
They had hoped they would open in November, which has almost gone.
Things are almost ready to go, be patient and keep your eyes and ears open.

The other thing that seems to be dragging on is this merger business.
I have NOT been amazed to hear of the number of rural councils wishing to stand alone, which has always been my preference.
Scream as much as they, or we like, I'm afraid to say if the minister decides to scrawl his signature on a piece of paper, get used to the outcome, as, like it or not, it's a done deal.

Going back to my opening piece, to put down this terrorism scourge, the world must consider these age old words:
"United we stand, divided we fall." (Aesop - from the fable 'The Four Oxen and the Lion')
