Can you believe that human beings can be so uncaring about their fellow man, that they can perpetrate the atrocities that we have just witnessed in Paris and that so many countries have felt the impact of heinous terrorist attacks.

We hear the rhetoric about this war on terrorism, but time has come to take a united approach by as many countries as possible, a truly powerful and concerted effort could then be made to attack and wipe this radical scourge from this Earth.
Too much to ask?
I hope not, because how long will it be that another country is facing the same anguish.
It has been said that this act of terrorism in Paris is a declaration of war, if so, it is time to act.

On a brighter note, Boorowa's Touch Football/Netball Carnival gained national attention Thursday last November 12 when Member for Hume Angus Taylor spoke in Parliament congratulating Boorowa schools on the success of their recent fundraising carnival.
"Host schools Boorowa Central School and St Joseph's raised 13 and a half thousand dollars each after costs, a great result for one day of fundraising," Mr Taylor said.
Mr Taylor, in his speech, outlined the 70 year history of such a carnival, he said the beauty of this tournament was not the winning but getting fit and having fun.
He also said he loved to see the small school composite teams taking part.
Finally, Mr Taylor attributed the event's success to the hardworking members of the organising committee including Rob Daniels, Julie Harton, Erin Harris, Patty Boulding, Brendan Maynard and many others.
He also acknowledged the support of Boorowa Council.
Well done, well said Angus Taylor.

Last week I spoke about the inspiration that can be gained from people like Michelle Payne, Tim Cahill and Nathan Lyon.
You don't have to go too far from home to find inspirational stories like last week's front page story about Jelisa Apps.
A great story about a great girl.
I've known Jelisa for many of her 25 years, she's always impressed and I can only add, "She's a gem."

Boorowa Community Landcare Group needs some help.
At their recent AGM the positions of Secretary and Treasurer were not filled.
Unless this situation can be rectified, the committee may have to turn their back on $150 000 grant money anticipated over the next three years, money that helps to improve our environment.
Landcare co-ordinator Heather McLeod would love to hear from anyone who can help.

Boorowa Australia Day Committee has decided to introduce an annual award in memory of Len and Joan Oxley.
Len and Joan were very much the driving force behind the establishment of our Australia Day celebration in Boorowa.
The award is to acknowledge those in our community who have given many years of service to Boorowa and district.
The committee only requires a name and will take it from there, just let Janene Hurley or myself know.

It would be lovely to live in a peace loving world. Consider these words:
"Peace, if it ever exists, will not be based on the fear of war but on the love of peace." (Herman Wouk)
