Member for Cootamundra, Katrina Hodgkinson has announced the new bridge will be named "Wyangala Bridge" following a naming competition.
Ms Hodgkinson said she was delighted to see locals involved in naming the bridge they had worked together to achieve. "It's great to see construction of the new bridge and road officially completed and the bridge named by local residents," Ms Hodgkinson said.
"I am pleased to have played a part in achieving this important milestone - we wouldn't be where we are today without collaboration between the NSW Government, local Councils, the community and WaterNSW.
"I look forward to seeing the rest of the Wyangala Dam safety upgrade completed in the coming months."
Cowra Council Mayor Councillor Bill West said dozens of diverse entries were received in the naming competition.
"Suggestions included aboriginal names, local identities, landmarks and geographical names for the area," Cr West said.
"Cowra Council worked with Boorowa Council to vet the suggestions and Wyangala Bridge was the unanimous decision."
