Their request is still on the back burner, so the Galong Progress Association capably led by Mr John Killick and Mr Bill Stanley have met this cost themselves.
The game was played in a very sportsman like fashion. West Wyalong batsmen were feeling the ill effects of the Harden picnic races found scoring runs hard to get.
Galong fielding was spot on with good catches and a couple of run outs. Galong started their innings with confidence and continued on to over take the West Wyalong score and after their allocated 25 overs had compiled 106 runs.
A trophy to commemorate the first match played on the new synthetic pitch was presented to the two captains, James Woodhead, Galong and Ethan Silk, West Wyalong. Jessica Killick surprised everyone by opening a box which contained a large chocolate cake.
Everyone who played hopes this will be the beginning of further games in the future. Bill Stanley thanked all who turned up for the day with thanks to Johnno Pitt for cooking the barbecue, Ruby Woodhead for scoring, and Phillip and John for umpiring. A special thanks to Bill and Bec Stanley for organising the donation of the meat for the barbecue.
