Local small schools had a very special guest visit them recently with NRLW Brisbane Broncos star Tara McGrath-West returning to the region to teach the kids some new skills.

"The indoor session gave the students the chance to hear directly from myself and special guest Tara McGrath-West who shared some of her personal experiences and insights into what it means to be Simply Your Best," Game Development Officer Emma James said.

"The presentation encouraged students to reflect on their own efforst, values and goals, both in sport and everyday life."

"The students also completed an outoor skills session which allowed them to learn the fundamentals of the game whilst having fun with their friends."

Connecting with students through the game of Rugby League allows them to spark their interest in the sport while also learning skills they can use in their everyday life and personal development.

"They were able to walk away with a positive message that promotes effort, resilience and being your best self," Emma said.

"The Small Schools Simply Your Best road trip was successful, having visited seven small schools around 66 students.
