Scheduled for Monday, February 26, at 10 am, the meeting aims to shed light on the array of services available and the need for community involvement.
Kelly Rolfe, from Community Transport, highlighted the vital role their organisation plays in facilitating access to essential services for community members.
"We provide services to take people to things like medical appointments and shopping access," Ms Rolfe told the Boorowa News.
Currently operating with one car based in Boorowa, Community Transport extends its reach through a bus service, linking Young to Canberra on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The bus passes through Boorowa.
Ms Rolfe explained, "we're taking them to places like the hospital, Westfield Shopping Centre, and even to the airport if they're catching flights away".
These services are available to anyone in the community, aiming to bridge transportation gaps for those in need.
Moreover, the organisation facilitates weekly trips to Young for shopping and other activities, catering to individuals residing just outside of Boorowa who may lack transportation options.
However, Ms Rolfe emphasised the need for more volunteers to sustain and expand these services.
"We're looking at expanding social events to Boorowa, as well so we need to get some more drivers," she said.
While Community Transport receives government funding, they also rely on subsidized payments for services.
Ms Rolfe clarified, "the charge depends on kilometres travelled and which bus service is being taken," ensuring transparency regarding the financial aspect of the services provided.
The upcoming meeting serves as an opportunity to inform the community about available services and gather feedback to enhance them further.
"The meeting is really just about making people aware of what services we can offer and seeking feedback about services," Ms Rolfe said.
In urging potential volunteers to come forward, Ms Rolfe emphasised, "I'm looking for volunteers that might be interested in giving a bit of time back to their community to drive the service users around".
She encouraged all interested individuals to attend the meeting, even if solely to learn about the future initiatives of Community Transport.
