We have become so used to seeing Ross Williams leading the Anzac Day March, carrying the Australian flag. Ross was caught up with a builder replacing a roof he lost in a recent storm and couldn’t make it this year. Who was that fellow in his place? A Readymade replacement in son-in-law Corporal Scott Cox.

Scott has had significant military involvement in Afghanistan, Iraq, East Timor and Malaysia, and, I must say, carried the flag with obvious pride.
Scott is the husband of Ross and Bonnie Williams’ second daughter Lauren. Scott, Lauren and family have only just recently moved back to Boorowa.
Scott performed his duties with such panache and, as I said, pride, Rossie might just be out of a job.

While on Anzac Day, again a marvelous turn out and a moving ceremony. This thought came to me during the minute’s silence. The only sound that could be heard was the sound of little children. They may not have understood the significance of the day, but they were there and that significance will come.
In the service, much was mentioned about the sacrifice men and women made so that we live as we do today. Those little voices in many ways are symbolic of where we are today, also symbolic of why we should never forget.

Boorowa Pony Club recently had a ‘Lamb Drive’ with proceeds being used to upgrade their equipment.
Membership numbers are on the rise, the growth in young riders being very exciting, but in order to provide the young riders with the safest possible equipment, and due to changes in safety standards requirements, the equipment does need significant upgrade.

Love watching ‘The Voice’ and suggested we should view it as the judges do – blind. I suggested we should watch it with our eyes closed. Now that would be difficult.

Two big events in Boorowa – one soon, one later. Picnic Races this Saturday May 5 with gates to open 11am for first race at 1pm. Happy punting, partying and fashionable participation.
Australia Day much later, but the AGM is scheduled for Tuesday May 8, 7.30pm Ex-Services Club following which, planning for the 2019 event will get truly under way. This committee always welcomes new members and new ideas.

Much disgust was expressed at the environmental vandalism that saw rows of trees removed in Parnell and Ford Streets.
Power lines are currently under aerial surveillance, followed by ground inspection and when recommended, trees trimmed. Beware the tree loppers – they are the environmental vandals.
They were at our place last week and the chap doing the ground inspection assured us at the time our trees would only be trimmed. RUBBISH! Two trees in a tree line weren’t trimmed, they were cut down.
As a land owner, I’m aware of my responsibilities when it comes to growth near power lines. The trees under the power lines were chosen with height in mind and were almost at mature height. Did the environmental vandals have the decency to talk to me? No! Environmentalists, landowners, councils, townsfolk – beware of the ‘Tree Trimmers’.
