His Excellency, the Honourable David Hurley opened the Conference with the key Note Speaker Shane Cribb representing Deputy Police Commissioner Catherine Burn.
Shane spoke on crime in rural NSW.
Cowra Public School Choir sang beautifully entertaining all. Guest Speakers included:
-Sophie Hanson, 2016 Winner NSW-ACT RIRDC Rural Women's Award. Sophie runs a holistic deer farm in Orange with her husband
-Cowra farmer, Ed Fagan 2015 NSW Farmer of the Year. He is a company director of a 1,600 hectare property with cattle, fat lambs and grows a variety of crops including beetroot, asparagus and baby leaf spinach
-Jennifer Jones, Senior Lecturer in History spoke about her recent book "Country Women and the Colour Bar" examining Aboriginal Branches of the CWA of NSW
Congratulations to the following SWG members for their placements in the Land Handicraft Sections: Ruth Brookes, Cowra, 1st, Jenny Thompson, Milvale 2nd and Barbie Carne, Cowra Evening 3rd.
Three second places were awarded to Morongla's Jean Langfield in The Land Cookery Awards.
The Medical Research for 2016 is Lyme disease research.
A cheque for $35,000 was presented to Marie Huntley Jackson from the Lyme Disease Association.
ACWW World President gave an update saying fifteen women from around the world have been sponsored to go to the World Conference in August.
More medical aid has been given to PNG for maternity aids
Congratulations to two CWA Members for achieving State Awards.
Anne Gault, Quandialla Member on winning the Short Story competition "Sea Change or Tree Change", judged as an excellent essay in every aspect and Margie Ryan, Canimbla Branch and SWG Publicity Officer, the Wagga Daily Advertiser Publicity Officers Award.
Both these awards are a boost for SWG.
48,500 scones were baked for the Royal Easter Show.
The catering raised this year $135,000
Members and friends enjoyed the High Tea on Tuesday afternoon tasting the best entries in the Land Cookery raising $500 for Land Cookery.
Others took advantage of the local tours on Thursday afternoon after the Conference finished
The Gala Dinner on Thursday, May 5, at the Pavilion finished off week.
It was a cruise themed night, members dressed in their finery, enjoyed the meal and dancing.
A most memorial event
The Conference was a credit to the SWG members on the organising committee, including Carmen Gordon, Boorowa member, who worked tirelessly to make it the great success it was.
