Boorowa gymnastic club members achieved excellent results in their respective levels in the WAG (Women’s Artistic Gymnastics) Competition held at the Southern Canberra Gymnastic Club on the weekend.

Ten points are allocated to each apparatus that the gymnasts compete on, those being beam, vault, un-even bars and floor. All competitors who score 34 or more receive a gold ribbon .
More than 187 boys and girls took part in the competition and well-executed routines saw our competitors achieve high apparatus and overall scores with many finishing in the top five in their respective levels.
Emily Dickson was our only Level 1 gymnast, She received an excellent overall score of 35.8 which saw her take out first place in a field of 44 competitors. Her highest single apparatus score was on beam where she received 9.5.
Our competitors in Level 2 were Jasmine Mitchell, Molly Golver, Katelyn Edwards and Jorja O’Brien. Molly’s highest apparatus score was 8.2 on vault, Jorja’s highest apparatus score was 9.1 on vault, while Katelyn’s highest apparatus score was 8.9 on bars and beam. Both girls scored 34.9 overall and were placed fifth overall. Jasmine’s highest apparatus score was 8.9 on bars and she was placed fourth overall and 35.1.
A large field of seventy five girls competed in Level 2.
In Level 3 was competitors Talia Halls gained 1st place with a commendable high score of 37.4 and Imogen Pye was a close second with another commendable score of 37.3. Talia’s highest apparatus score was 9.6 on floor and Imogen’s highest apparatus score was 9.8 on beam.
Marlie McIntosh and Claire Howlett competed in Level 4 and both gained their highest score on vault with 9.1 and 9 respectively. There were 37 competitors in this level.
Club members will now be training for the inter-club sports acrobatic, recreational levels and team gym competition with Yass and Cowra which will be held in Boorowa in December.
