Men’s Shed and Rotary join forces to inform

Last Saturday Harden Murrumburrah Men's Shed hosted local Rotarian Jim Ryan who shared his experience with prostate cancer.

Jim is well respected in the Harden-Murrumburrah community and spoke about his treatment regime for prostate cancer.

According to the Australian Government there were over 26,000 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed in Australia in 2024, and it is estimated that a male has a one in six risk (18 percent) of being diagnosed with prostate cancer by the age of 85.

From 2010 to 2020 Jim was a volunteer ambassador who travelled around rural areas to raise awareness about the disease.

The presentation was a fantastic opportunity for locals to learn more about prostate cancer treatment directly from someone with personal experience.

The event was also an opportunity for locals to learn more about the Men's Shed which is located at the end of East Street, Harden in the Old Railway Building.
