Junior Pickers play round two

UNDER 14s

The Under 14s have had a big start to the season with three trial matches which has allowed the team to work hard on new structure and fitness.

After a very successful 2024 season the team has returned and now realising the hard work begins all over again.

Their enthusiasm at training is now beginning to pay off just in time for the 2025 competition ahead.

Young vs Wagga Roos Red - 3/5/2025

Under 14s where very privileged on Saturday by being given the opportunity to warm up with Young first grade at Alfred oval.

Tom Giles and his team welcomed the U14’s across the tracks were they put their skills to the test both in attack and defence.

After the nerves of facing the talented first grade players the U14s where set to play their first competition match of the season.

The first half of football was tough in attack and defence with mistakes making it very difficult to complete their sets.

With a revised game plan, the Under 14s got into the arm wrestle allowing points to be scored through good ball movement and planed moves.

Saturday’s weather was warm seeing the interchange being welcomed by Young's strong forward pack.

Half time saw the team speak about their mistakes and by mid second half the team switched into gear.

Points were being scored with good ball movement through the back line after great work from the strong forward pack gaining good field position.

Young's strong defence saw the Wagga Roos score only one try throughout the game.

The final score being 54-4 did not represent the entire game as Wagga Roos worked very hard to contain the Young side.

Try scores for Young - Jack Hunt, Jimmy Smith, Braith Anderson, Knox Walker, Brock Nedelcuta.

Braith Anderson converted 7 goals and obtained man of the match.
