An unplanned power outage left more than 1,600 Cowra residents without electricity on Sunday night after powerlines came down.

The outage began around 8:50pm on last Wednesday evening, impacting 1,627 customers. Initial reports suggested a truck may have struck the powerlines, but when Essential Energy crews arrived on-site, no vehicle was found.

“An unplanned outage affected 1,627 customers in Cowra last night, starting at approximately 8:50pm due to powerlines being down,” an Essential Energy spokesperson said.
