Trio charged with drug offences in Young

Local officers from the Young Police Station charged three people with drug offences last Tuesday.

According to police about 7.30am Tuesday, April 29, 2025, officers were patrolling Nasmyth Street, Young when they pulled over a vehicle, after they allegedly detected an unlicensed driver.

"Officers subjected the 39-year-old female driver to a roadside drug test, which allegedly returned a positive reading for methylamphetamine," police said.

"A secondary sample was sent away out for testing."

According to police the vehicle was searched and it is alleged drugs were seized and a mobile phone was also taken for forensic examination.

"The 39-year-old woman was taken to Young Police Station where she was charged with seven counts of supply prohibited drug more than or equal to small quantity, supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, possess prohibited drug and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period," police said.

"She appeared in Young Local Court today (Tuesday 28 April 2025), where she was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Tuesday 6 May 2025."

Following inquiries, about 7.40am the same day, officers executed a search warrant at a home nearby in Lynch Street, Young.

"Police seized a small amount of drugs from the home and ammunition," police said.

"A 40-year-old man was issued with a court attendance notice for possess prohibited drug.

"A 20-year-old man was issued with a court attendance notice for possess prohibited drug and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit.

"They will both appear in Young Local Court on Monday 2 June 2025."
