New surgery to open in July

Locals have been given the opening date of the new Marsden Street Medical Practice in Boorowa with Dr Asitha Wickramaratne, known as Dr Wick eager to get the new surgery up and running.

The new practice opening has been announced for Tuesday July 1, 2025 meaning locals will be able to access general practitioners in Boorowa.

"We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of Marsden Street Medical Practice on Tuesday, July 1st, at 10am," the Practice said.

"We warmly invite all patients to join us in celebrating this significant milestone in the community."

The practice will be run by Dr Wick from the Boorowa Street Medical Practice in Young with he, his staff and contractors working tirelessly to ensure that the facility in Boorowa would be up and running as quickly as possible for the residents of Boorowa.

"We are committed to providing quality healthcare services with a focus on accessibility," the practice said.

"We are pleased to offer bulk billing for services covered by Medicare, ensuring that patients receive the care they need without financial barriers."

The facility is continuing to track, trace and retrieve medical records for locals who attended the previous clinic prior to its closure.

"In our commitment to continuity of care, we recognise the importance of patient records," the clinic said.

"We are actively working to trace and retrieve these records to offer a seamless transition for our patients.

"We appreciate your patience as we navigate this process and explore various avenues to ensure your health history is well documented in our system."

Dr Wick and his staff are also continuing the process of finding a full-time general practitioner for the clinic to assist with the doctors from the Young clinic treating the patients of Boorowa.

"As we strive to enhance our services, we are also in the process of recruiting an additional full time general practitioner to better serve our community's healthcare needs," the clinic said.

"Your health is our priority, and we are excited to grow and develop our practice in collaboration with you."

The facility will be open three days a week initially with doctors from Boorowa Street Medical Centre in Young travelling to Boorowa to see patients.

All patient records that were transferred from Boorowa Medical Practice in Boorowa to the Boorowa Street Medical Practice in Young are able to be returned to the Marsden Street Medical Practice at no cost should the patient request it.

It is important to clarify that while Marsden Street Medical Practice is a sister facility to Boorowa Street Medical Practice, they are two entirely separate entities.

Staff members at each location do not have access to files from the other practice, though records can be easily transferred upon request by our practice manager.
