It was a cold and Wintry night in December - many carols begin like this - when various people and members of the Boorowa Musical and Dramatic Choir turned up at St John's Anglican Church in Boorowa to sing carols.

Of course, December in Australia is supposed to be Summer - but it didn't feel like it this year.
The carols were all of the traditional variety - Silent Night, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, O Come all ye Faithful...
Every one in the congregation knew them and sang along enthusiastically with the choir members.
It was wonderful to hear.
Between the carols were readings from the Bible telling of Christ's birth (just to remind us that Christmas is not just about buying presents).
All three churches in Boorowa were represented with readers - Judy Witchard, Kathy McLennan, Patrick Dwyer, Julie Poplin, Bronwyn Fickle and Arnold Spackman.
This was not a grand event: it was something which would have been regarded as quite normal before COVID.
It was great to be celebrating Christmas in ways which would have seemed quite ordinary just a few years ago.
The gift that Boorowa gets every Christmas is Mary Corcoran playing the organ or piano.
What would our carols be without her amazing ability?
Thanks and appreciation also go to the choir's conductor Peter Roberts who is a very talented musician and singer.
At the end of the singing everyone left with very good spirits leading up to Christmas.
A very enjoyable supper was provided by the members of the Anglican Parish.
