Following NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller's retirement announcement in July this year, Ms Webb has been named as one of three deputy commissioners in line for the role alongside Mick Willing and Mal Lanyon.
The announcement is expected in the coming days.
All three were interviewed by a panel last month after Ms Webb was promoted from assistant to deputy commissioner in July.
Deputy commissioner Webb was born and attended school in Boorowa before joining the NSW Police Force in 1987.
Amongst other appointments deputy commissioner Webb was appointed the Corporate Sponsor for Women in Policing in 2013.
She is also on a number of internal and external boards and committees including: Chair of the 100 Years of Women in Policing Committee (2015), Women in Policing Executive Committee and the Corrective Services NSW Women's Advisory Council.
She was also awarded the Australian Police Medal.
