Though the South West Slopes is named, it appears according to the BoM map the Hilltops and Cootamundra - Gundagai are not in what the Bureau expects to be the worst affected areas.
According to the Bureau winds will develop over southeastern NSW this morning.
"An intensifying low pressure system over western Victoria is expected to track east-southeastwards towards the eastern Bass Strait this morning. In response, vigorous northwest to westerly flow will develop over southeastern New South Wales," a BoM spokesperson said.
The warning posted by the Bureau expects widespread damaging winds, averaging 60 to 70km/h with peak gusts up to 100km/h.
The Bureau said the winds would develop over the alpine region and rapidly extend into the remainder of the warning area throughout Friday morning.

- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
- Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
