It was a lovely morning at Rugby's Anzac Day Dawn Service.
We had a new Convenor in Tony and Leanne Croker after Will and Marg Kelly retired, having had more than 30 years of conducting the service.
As always, such a beautiful setting with Craig Baker playing his trumpet and Ted Gibbons doing the flag with 14 marchers and a crowd of 80.
Everyone enjoyed the fire and breakfast in the supper room where we learned all about Ordinary Seaman Edward (Teddy) Sheehan, who bravely fought against the Japanese in Betano Bay, Timor, on the newly commissioned corvette "Armidale" as an Oerlikon anti-aircraft gunner.
He strapped himself to his Oerlikon and shot down two aircraft and was seen by survivors in the water as the ship sank, firing tracer as he went down with the ship.
We will Remember Them.
