For an event not expected to be held a little over a month ago, the organisers must be pleased with our very successful Anzac Day march and service.

As usual a very good turn out of people to commemorate this very significant day.
Alan Banks and Belinda Hewitt, well done.
'Thrown' into the job, but a job well done.

The evil tendrils of COVID-19 can still reach out and clutch us, changing our lives into the restricted anxious manner we hope is behind us.
Boorowa Central School had hoped to celebrate its 150th year last year, this has been, as we were aware, changed to later this year.
Uncertainty about COVID has created another change and, in 2025, a celebration is scheduled to commemorate the 155th year.
Plans are to hold the event in February.
The organising committee want very strong numbers, and concerns about COVID was creating doubts and the numbers attending did not appear to reach the anticipated participation.
You may say a hasty decision, but really, probably very sensible.

The Boorowa News has gone international, much to the surprise of Greg Maber and Carol Harpley.
They have just returned from a holiday on Norfolk Island where, to their surprise, reading through a copy of the local newspaper, 'The Norfolk Islander', came across a piece written by John Snelling.
It was the piece written in WITS of April 15 about the Duke of Edinburgh and a chap, Barley Christian, on the Island fishing for mullet.
The section of the column about the Duke and Barley was printed in full in the Norfolk Islander of April 17.
I have no idea how they got onto it, but the writer, myself, was acknowledged and the source given as www.boorowanewsonline.com.au
Maybe the News hasn't gone international, but it is obvious, when you put word out there, you can never be sure where it will be read. I will drop a line to the editor.

Last Thursday, April 22, Julie Ankars visited Boorowa, giving a talk about her books and running a workshop for 50+.
Julie writes compilations of interesting motivational stories about people from all walks of life.
Like all the writers who visit Boorowa presenting talks, Julie was very informative and motivational, just like all the authors the library has hosted.
Don't miss the next one.

Try doing a crossword puzzle or some serious writing, it's not long before you reach for a thesaurus, usually Roget's.
It was on this day in 1852, lexicographer and inventor Peter Mark Roget had his first edition of 'Roget's Thesaurus' published.

As promised last week, I am going to start a series of the top seven 'Stella's" - puzzling decisions handed down in US courts.
Kathleen Roberson of Austin Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store.
The shop owners were understandably surprised by the verdict - the running toddler was her own son.
