Byron Bay protests against Netflix's reality TV show Byron Baes

Hundreds turned out at Bryon Bay on NSW's North Coast this morning for a paddle out protest against Netflix's recently announced docu-soap, Byron Baes.

Organisers say the paddle out was to formally request that Netflix cancels the show immediately.

Paddlers formed a circle with a line through it to express their opposition.

Byron Baes is described as a series following a ''feed' of hot Instagrammers living their best lives".

Many locals, including the mayor, don't want it filmed and say it's just the kind of attention the town doesn't need given the current housing affordability crisis.

A petition against the show has begun and some businesses are refusing to allow the crew to film on their premises.
