To aid the transition to further study and help students thrive in their chosen field, Boorowa Community Bank has awarded each of the first-time students $5000 to assist with the commencement of their studies, including course costs, study material and equipment.
Program coordinator Michelle Fahey said the program demonstrates the community bank's commitment to investing in future generations and supporting the youth of the community to achieve their goals.
"Encouraging our youth is an important way our Bank can give back to our community and support local students in rural areas to access further studies. We are delighted to announce our 2021 winners," she said.
"These scholarships totalling $20,000 also coincide with our 20th birthday and are the perfect way to acknowledge this milestone - by giving back to the community who have supported us for all these years."
The team at Boorowa Community Bank congratulates the 2021 scholarship recipients and wish them well with their future endeavours:
Mackella Pye is studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra. A student at Boorowa Central School, Mackella would like to open her own business when she is qualified and would like to support a small rural town by bringing services to the bush.
Alby Cavanagh is studying Bachelor of Architecture and Building at Monash University. Alby was a student at Hennessey Catholic College and following his studies, would like to work in an architectural firm and contribute to energy efficient and sustainable buildings for the future.
Fleur Corcoran is studying a Bachelor of Medicine at University of Canberra. A student at Boorowa Central School, Fleur would like to become a registered diagnostic radiographer and then complete postgraduate studies to become a Sonographer. She would like to come back to a rural community to support people to access services in remote areas.
Adam Pearsall will complete an apprenticeship in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology at Mildura TAFE. Adam attended high school at Daramalan College and aspires to open his own business in a rural area once his studies are complete.
