Busy start to the year for St Joseph's
St Joseph's had a busy week last week as they celebrated the beginning of the new school year with a mass, began Term 1 swimming lessons and also held their school Swimming Carnival.
The new year was officially blessed on Saturday evening when the St Joseph's school community joined the St Patrick's Parish community for Mass.
At the end of Mass, the 2021 School Captains and Year 6 Leaders were presented with their badges.
During the presentation they were encouraged to use their leadership to help the younger students in 2021.
It was a significant event for the 2021 Kindergarten students.
The school welcomed eight new Kindies and they were presented with their 'Buddy Bears' by their Year 6 Buddies.
The Year 6 students are looking forward to helping our Kindergarten students settle into St Joseph's.
The school community then enjoyed a barbeque in the school grounds.
The school's brand new portable barbecue trailer was used for the first time.
The school thanks Bango Wind Farm for their donation to help build the trailer barbecue.
The school's Term 1 swimming lessons started last week as well.
Each Thursday for the month of February, the school will take all students to the pool and our qualified swimming teachers build swimming skills and confidence in the pool.
We are already seeing great improvement in all our students.
