The Murringo Sportsground Land Manager has secured $33,500 to upgrade the Murringo tennis courts under the Infrastructure Grants Program, and $3253 to replace boundary fencing and gates under the Crown Reserves improvement fund.
"Tennis is a sport enjoyed by all ages and it is fantastic to be announcing funding for a full upgrade of the local courts for the Murringo community," Ms Cooke said.
"It is important to see community facilities like these have a complete spruce up - for the benefit of everyone in the local area, and to encourage greater participation in outdoor recreational activity."
The Murringo tennis courts project is to be coordinated by the Murringo Sportsground Land Manager, with representative Frank Baker and Mary Fogg of the Murringo Tennis Club welcoming the funding.
"This funding will allow us to complete the tennis court project in full - we will put another court in, following our success a couple of years ago securing funding to resurface a single court, and we will also straighten up all the fencing," Mr Baker said.
"I'm not a tennis player but Mary has been playing here for quite a number of years. We try to keep the grounds right - we take pride in it, as we are lucky to have it."
Mrs Fogg is a keen tennis player, having played at the Murringo tennis courts every week for about 44 years.
