The Red Hill Reserve committee is calling for volunteers and new members to help with the maintenance and management of the Red Hill Conservation Reserve.
The Red Hill Grassy Woodland contains a sample of White Box, Yellow, Box Blakely's Red Gum Grassy Woodland (Box-Gum Grassy Woodland).
This is an endangered ecological community (EEC) listed under the NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995.
It is also considered as a critically endangered ecological community under the Australian Government's Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC) 1999.
The reserve is small in size, being approximately four hectares and sits on the eastern edge of the town of Boorowa, between Queen Street, Pudman Street, Ford Street and Long Street.
The reserve is managed by volunteers to preserve Red Hill for its conservation and biodiversity values and enhancing it as habitat threatened species such as the Superb Parrot under a Section 355 committee of Hilltops Council.
The reserve needs your help.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the regular maintenance of the reserve such as mowing and weeding as well as other projects such as regular fauna and flora surveys to see what animals and plants are occurring in the reserve.
All work undertaken on the reserve is done under the guidance of the Redhill Reserve Committee.
We also need more Committee members to assist with the strategic management of the reserve.
In addition to the management of the site, help is needed with the management of site improvement projects, reporting, funding applications and social media management.
No experience is needed, just a willingness to help.
If you have an hour or two an month where you could assist the Red Hill Reserve Committee would greatly appreciate your help.
