Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our Combined Learning Days with Boorowa Central School and Dalton Public School had to be put on hold, so they knuckled down at school instead and started some exciting projects.
The highly anticipated go-kart conversion began, with the arrival of their go-kart, kindly donated by CWP Renewables.
The students are now working to redesign the go-kart by pulling it apart and reassembling to convert it to be powered by solar and wind energy.
Watch this space for progress updates.
The school community would also like to thank Bango Wind Farm, a project of CWP Renewables, for the donation of a hot water system in the kitchen.
Students have been making the most of the recent rain and spring weather out in the vegie patch.
New seedlings have been planted and patches prepared for growing summer vegetables ready for harvest later next term/early next year.
Rye Park students always take pride in entering their produce in the Boorowa Show, and were very excited when they took home the blue ribbon earlier this year.
This term students have been studying wombats and consolidating their researching skills to learn new and interesting facts.
To put their knowledge into practice, the students took part in a field trip this week to the Brougham Smith's farm at Frogmore to search for wombat holes.
Highlights included picnicking right alongside wombat holes, finding fresh scats and evidence of other animals, including wild pigs, kangaroos, and spotting a variety of birds.
Sausages and toasted marshmallows were well deserved after the trekking and tracking.
Rye Park welcomes enquiries for enrolments for 2021.
Our special orientation program commences early in Term 4, so please contact the school on 6227 2251 for further information.
