With a seven-all scoreline following a grinding first half, the crowd that braved the weekend's conditions to attend the Goldies' last home game of the season knew they were in for a contest that would go down to the wire.

It was Cootamundra that struck, first putting themselves in front with an unconverted try, taking the score to 7-12 just 17 minutes in from the break.
Not wanting to lose their spot at the top of the ladder, Boorowa returned the favour also scoring an unconverted try 12 minutes later to level the scores to 12 a piece.
From there both sides made the best of the freezing conditions, pumping out multiple phases on each other's try lines.
With five minutes to go, Boorowa cracked first letting Cootamundra cross to take a 12-19 lead.
With the rain starting and temperatures dropping, it seemed the Tri-colours had the game in the bag.
However the Goldies dug deep and made Cooamundra's try line their own, setting up camp and crossing the line twice, only to be called held up both times.
As the final seconds wound down the game seemed done and dusted when some expansive play finally allowed Boorowa to plant the ball in goal, bringing the home team within two points of the tie.
With the final say in the game now resting on the boot of Jacob Piper from the sideline, both home and away fans held their breath.
The kick left the tee and looked good until the freezing breeze helped to curve the ball away from the uprights, handing Cooatmundra the win.
Goldies coach, Andrew Corcoran, said there had been very little separating the sides during the match.
"We made it hard for ourselves Cootamundra played a lot smarter and played the conditions a lot better," he said.
"They drilled the line a lot and got out of pressure, that was the only slight difference in the game.
"We scored under the post there at the end and it was disallowed. That would have probably made it a draw, which would have been a fair result.
"But we got a try and we missed the kick, I don't think there was anyway he was going to get that kicking into the wind."
Corcoran said despite the result the side would take a lot out of the match.
"There were a lot of good things to come out of the game," he said.
"Today we were just fighting ourselves more than Cootamundra.
"So we'll just try and make things easier on ourselves.
"I'm glad we got a crack at them before finals because there's a pretty good chance we'll play them the first week.
"You'd back us on a dry track against them and if we had those conditions we'd like to have another go at them."
He said the side would now focus using their last regular season fixture to lock down a home final.
"It a big trip and it's always tough at Condobolin," he said.
"You don't know who they are going to bring out of Lake Cargelligo or the hills of Burcher.
"So we'll go there try to do the job and secure a home final."
