At the June council meeting, Young's National Cherry Festival, the Boorowa Irish Woolfest and Harden Kite Festival were all cancelled in their traditional for 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Council staff are preparing alternate programs which are expected to be tabled to councillors at the upcoming July meeting.
Residents are being urged to submit any virtual ideas, or ideas for COVID-safe activities to help bolster local economies while also supporting public health.
Since the June meeting, council's events committees have developed ideas including virtual demonstrations, shop window displays and shop local initiatives.
Council want suggestions from the community to continue to roll in. Before the July meeting would help council staff include in alternate programs for councillors to discuss further.
"We have now seen what can happen when safety doesn't come first and that unfortunately means that our major events for this year simply can't proceed as usual. It is great that the community is getting on board with suggestions and ideas to help promote our region in other, more safe ways. I encourage anyone who would like to contribute an idea to email vic@hilltops.nsw.gov.au," mayor Brian Ingram said.
In a statement on the Hilltops Council Facebook page this week, residents were asked to get in touch with council if they think they know how how the events can be kept alive in 2020.
If you have an idea you can email vic@hilltops.nsw.gov.au to have a say.
