Hilltops Council is pleased to announce work has commenced on the cover for the horse arena at Boorowa Showground.

Construction is well under way on stage one of the Boorowa Horse Arena project.

According to Hilltops Council the project will provide a cover over half of the national level horse arena, along with associated yards and flooring.

"The project was funded through the Stronger Country Communities Fund Round two and is due for completion in early March 2020," a Council spokesperson said.

"The second stage of the project will extend this cover to the entire arena, providing Boorowa with an area suitable to host national events."

Council said while the second stage of the project remains unfunded to date, they have made applications towards the Stronger Country Communities Fund Round three to complete the arena.

Hilltops Mayor Brian Ingram is pleased with the progress and opportunities associated with the facility.

"This will be a great asset for Boorowa and the Hilltops Region," he said.

"The ability to host national events will provide significant economic benefit to the community."

Hilltops Council said the project is one of the final stages of the Boorowa Showground Complex, a vision which started with the masterplan developed by the former Boorowa Council and realised by Hilltops Council.
